FAITH 47
Faith47 is a self-taught street artist from Cape Town, South Africa. Her work is often inspired by the social reality she faces on the streets of South Africa: the vast difference between official politics, the promises of a better life introduced with the post-apartheid “New South Africa” and the harsh reality of life for most South Africans living on the streets.
His early urban interventions were characterized by a reflection on poverty, lack of housing, economic imbalance. In his latest works he has instead shifted his interest towards the natural world, focusing more on the impact of human nature on the natural world. The connections between humans, animals and nature, and how humanity can learn from the natural world, are reflected in the introduction of images of nature in urban environments.
Her art takes the form of metaphor, with meanings that are sometimes abstract and sometimes martial. Her works thrive on car wrecks and old factories, on dusty side streets of remote villages and back alleys of metropolises. Her affinity with forgotten spaces allows her to bring attention to the humblest of environments.
His works resonate with our fragility and our elusive relationship with dreams, memory and human interaction.
